Greater Portland Mothers of Multiples Club is a local support group for mothers and expectant mothers of multiples in the greater Portland, Maine area. The group offers a variety of opportunities for moms to meet, get acquainted, find support and enjoy their children.

Meetings are held at the Barron Center, 1145 Brighton Avenue Portland, Maine 04102 ( map), on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM.
Parks and Recreation

Baxter Woods Trail - Portland

  • Details: Nice trail. Short and sweet. Very wide, good for strollers that are made for off-road duty. Parking can be on the street which could be hazardous with little ones. Dogs can run off leash here. No bathrooms. Some stone 'benches' along the way for sitting and having snacks. (see all Portland Trails)

Cascades Fall Trail - Saco

  • Details: Great trail. Not too long but just enough. Nice waterfall with a small creek running at the end of the trail. No picnic benches etc. but you could sit on the rocks and have a snack or lunch there. Can be buggy and muddy after rains etc. Not stroller friendly. No bathrooms. Parking is off street and watch out because the dirt road leading to the trail head can get very muddy and your can get stuck -- ask Ms. Fellows about that! (see all Saco/Biddeford/Ocean Park Trails)

Deering Oaks Park - Portland

  • Directions: You can access Deering Oaks Park from State Street, Deering Avenue, or Park Avenue in Portland.

  • Details: playground (not enclosed), wading pool, pond, ducks, lots of open grassy areas, band shell, music and events during the summer, weekly farmers market in the summer, ice skating in the winter. Has public restrooms near Castle Building.

Fort Williams Park - Cape Elizabeth

  • Details: Small beach area, lots of open grassy areas for running around, Light House, rocky shoreline, Old Military forts to explore, playground tucked away near the back of the park (see map), playground about 3/4 enclosed. port-a-pottys available. Good for all ages.
Kettle Cove - Cape Elizabeth

  • Details:Great place to see some animals and just run around. Large central area for picnics and BBQs - just bring your own food and drinks! Small snack shack on site. Also very stroller friendly.
Payson Park - Portland
  • City park off Back Cove, with tennis courts, ball fields, rollerblading and skateboarding area, basketball courts, and an outdoor ice rink in winter.

  • Details: playground is total enclosed and has a sprinkler area (To turn on sprinkler there is a pole in the sprinkler area that has the mold of a child's hand in the side of it. You have to place your hand in the mold and press hard, water should eventually come out. We think the sprinkler may be on a timer where it does not turn on until 10am or so in the morning.) No real shade to speak of. Good for babies and up. No bathrooms.
Range Ponds State Park - Poland

  • Details: This is a wonderful beach with a large, clean beach, bathhouses, grills, picnic tables and a big playground. Day fees for the park are $4.50 an adult and I believe children under 5 are free, children over 5 are a few dollars not sure of the exact amount (see general info link above).

Two Lights State Park - Cape Elizabeth

  • Details: Two Lights Park has beautiful rocky coast for older kids to run around on and look at the waves and tide pools etc. Lots of picnic benches/grill areas for eating and resting and nice trails going around the park. Has bathrooms. Some trails are stroller friendly. You can also just continue down 2 Lights Road not very far (going past the entrance to the Park) and there is a parking area with a small beach and more of the same rocky coast etc. and this area is free. The famous, Lobster Shack, is located here (see map for details).

Village School Playground - Gorham

Winslow Memorial Park - Freeport

  • Details: Wonderful place, beautiful setting! Great playground and nice small beach with minimal surf. Also bathrooms and picnic tables.
